Lisa's hands-on experience complements her credentials as a qualified AI technician.
"Education in this field is never ending. I've supplemented my certificate in horse artificial insemination from the University of Melbourne with courses at the Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital and Alalabar Stud (Vic), Woodlands and Alabar (NZ) and have attended Cryologic Instrumentation (Vic). I regularly go to breeders courses and update my learning by visiting advanced reproductive specialists."
She explained that AI is mostly done by specialised vets and that fully qualified AI technicians are still a rare breed.
" This is a highly technical field that requires a great degree of education and practice. Two-day courses for horse owners are great because all knowledge is useful, but it's not the same as reproduction being your full time occupation."
